A militarily advanced country that is facing economic issues could go to war if they believe1 the reasons are external in nature. We have seen this multiple times in history with Germany and Japan during World War 2, and with Russia in the last two decades.
This is the reason we have seen European countries jump in to help to any other European country that is facing serious economic hardship. It helps stave off war.
The direction the US has adopted with a tariff on all its trading partner, is a stepping stone to another prospective war. China has said that they will cut off US from some of the key rare earth minerals just yesterday. If more such instances come up, we might see an aggrieved US that wants to make the rest of the world pay for its own self-inflicted wounds.
Hopefully it doesn’t come down to that, but the unfortunate reality is that the fate of the world relies on the big ego of some very small men.
